Why Rotary is holding Pioneer Adventure Day

During 2025, over 600 farming families across South Australia registered with Rotary and our partner Farmers Relief Agency, to receive help with sourcing fodder to feed their livestock.

Since February 2025, we have visited around 350 farms, on average delivering about 10 Tonne of fodder, either hay or high nutrition sheep pellets.

The stress our team have seen - the desperation and depression - is hard to describe in words. We have had 5 farmers to date openly admit they were on the verge of suicide. But Rotary turning up at their farm gate with a substantial delivery of High Quality feed delivered them something more than fodder ... HOPE!

Children find it hard to understand why they no longer see Mum and Dad laugh. Or even smile. Why the home is quiet all the time as their parents never stop thinking about ways to survive. Ways to put more than one meal a day on the table for their own children.

Mental Health is bandied around in the media a lot these days.

But this is the reality of why 'mental health' is at an all time low in so many farming communities.

Rotary wants to deliver a Different form of HOPE!

Pioneer Adventure Day will offer these families a day off the farm. A day where they can remember what being a family is about. A day of entertainment, rides, music, food, conversation and experiences.

For not only these farming families, but other businesses in Rural Towns struggling to survive, we will invite them to attend this day to reconnect and reinspire their future.

Through caring people sponsoring, we aim to offer a free day - petrol to the event covered - entry fee covered - entertainment covered - food provided.

Sometimes people just need to know that others care.
