BreastScreen SA is South Australia’s dedicated breast cancer screening program, providing free breast screens (screening mammograms) every 2 years to women aged over 40.
BreastScreen SA cares for women from ocean to outback, screening around 100,000 South Australia women each year, including women in rural and remote areas of our state via mobile screening units.
Breast screens aim to detect breast cancer at an early stage, which improves the treatment options and health outcomes for our clients, their families, and communities.
BreastScreen SA actively invites women in the target age group of 50 to 74 who have no symptoms of breast cancer to participate regularly in screening, however all women over 40 can access the service. A breast screen takes just 15 minutes and can detect cancer before symptoms arise.
